Hey
Just wondering...
Is there anything I can use (free preferably) to configure my monitor and tv (when it comes) for optimal viewing?
I just realised how my monitor is still on factory settings and i figured it would be best to change settings on the monitor than on software (it will be present when i format etc.)
I wanna do the whole works from colour to sharpness (mainly on my tv mind you)
Thanks guys
Its never crossed my mind really
You can do it by eye, Sam, using a calibration program of the sort included with Photoshop, but by far the best way is a hardware calibration, and the cheapest unit I know to do that is a Pantone Huey.

Do I need to take cover even at this distance, Sam? ;)
The best way to set a TV is surely by eye, no 2 people seem to like the same settings.
I use skin tones, together with the best black to set mine.
I agree on calibration, In, the eye is the best tool for TVs, where only the subjective view matters.
THX mastered DVD's i.e Star Wars have basic video and audio tuning calibration tests on them, just look for the THX logo and click on it. I used it and it looks pretty good when you've finished.
Do it by eye, but dont forget your glasses
Sun? ;D
Eye Rik Eye ::) ;D

If you have a chance to look at "Which" they provide the optimal settings (in their opinion) for the TV's they've tested.
