Title: KVM Switch
Post by: Ted on Nov 22, 2008, 18:52:28
For a while now i've been after a decent KVM switch.

I just picked a brand new, sealed, Aten master view KVME cs1774 from Ebay, for the total of £25.00.

Absolutely fantastic straight out of the box, USB, Audio, all just work. You can bring the focus of these to any box, or not. It even has a 4 port ethernet switch on board.

So if you need a KVM switch and can get one at a good price, you could do worse than getting one of these. They do a 2 port version as well.

Just to add, i mostly use Linux and occasionally windows, it didn't even notice. :thumb:

Oh yes, it has a 2 port USB 2.0 hub as well, as if it wasn't good enough already ;D

Quite useful, especially for free but unlike a KVM switch you do need to use a monitor for each machine.

I have a KVM switch at work which switches the keyboard and screen okay between two PC's but no-ones ever been able to get it to work with the mouse although it tested okay on other PC's !!!.

That looks quite interesting but as John mentions you do need two extra monitors. Which kind of detracts from the space saving aspect.
I've had other KVM switches before but they never seemed to work 100%, whereas this one works perfectly even with USB wireless keyboard and mouse.
