Title: Sending large files
Post by: scook94 on Oct 02, 2008, 08:52:14
I had occasion yesterday where I needed to send a largish (48Mb) dump file to a colleague, I have in the past uploaded these types of files to my IDNet webspace and sent the intended recipient a link to the file.

However, as I was on a customer site I wasn't able to do this and ended up waiting until I got home before sending.

This got me thinking that there must be another way of achieving the desired result, google lead me to http://www.sendthisfile.com/

So, the question is this, has anyone used them before and if can they be recommended, or anyone know of any similar service elsewhere (preferably where the recipient doesn't have to register)?

TIA

I think a popular one is rapidshare, although I confess I've never used it before, alot of my friends use it though.

I've had the displeasure of rapidshare before, the slow download speeds and the wait time before being allowed to download have put me right off.

I've found 4shared.com which may fit the bill, I'll try it out and see if does what I need...

I think Rapidshare is only good if you pay to get the fast speeds.

Another one is YouSendIt (http://www.yousendit.com/). I know a few people that use it and seem happy.

I'll let my friends know about those alternatives.  Cheers.
