Title: Should I buy it - advice taken
Post by: petethegeek on Sep 18, 2008, 17:49:01
OK, just an update to my previous thread, and a slightly belated thank you to all that replied to it.

Armed with my new found knowledge I returned to the CEX store but while I was dithering over the 2700 an extremely helpful assistant - I suspect he may have been an exile from PC World - produced a mint Netgear DGB111G (DG834v4 + WG111v2) marked at £18. This proved too good to pass up. Indeed, as the wireless appears marginally stronger than the ST585, it is now set up as my primary with the SpeedTouch relegated to backup.

However... the lure of the 2wire, once ignited, continues to burn strong and last night I bid for - and subsequently won - a brand new 2700HGV for a few pence over a tenner.

While I'm waiting for it to arrive I shall be diligently reading up on the posts in this forum, but don't be surprised if I'm back shortly seeking further assistance. (I'm particularly interested in seeing if I can get it talking[sic] to sipgate.)

Again many thanks for everyone's help thus far.

Regards,

Pete

G7PKF and Evilpc  started on the same road Pete, their opening discussion started HERE (http://www.idnetters.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=7917.msg170091#msg170091), have a read through the thread.
