Any reported problems with idnet? I'm getting a msg from the router, 'no dsl connection'
Mine is fine here - sorry not to be any help!
It could be that there is a problem on one of the pipes or router, but until others say yay or nay it's impossible to know!
The router reports 0 on all counts so it could be an exchange problem. That said the phone is still working!
Like you, I wouild suspect a exchange problem. If it was an IDNet problem, it would just be PPP that was down, not sync.
All fine here
From what's been said I think it's an exchange problem. There's no IP and all line stats are at zero, although the phone is working. Could be BT b.......g about.
Will check tomorrow morning and contact support if it's still down.
All fine here, but you're not with IDNet are you, Tac?
He isn't, but his sister or someone is i think! Support will be able to check to see if it is a exchange problem.
No problems here tonight.
Woke up this moring to a CHAP Authentiacation Failed error message in my router, no internet connection. Unplugged phone line, waited 30 seconds, plugged back in, back online again.

That's right, it's my sister who's with iDNet. I should have made it clear in my OP, but I was trying to diagnose the problem over the phone whilst writing the post. There are days when you can sympathise with the folks in the call centres.... :)
Luckily, they don't happen too often. ;)

Just to show not all support lines are duff, sis rang iDNet first thing this morning and spoke to Miriam who did a line test. As we thought, the fault was diagnosed as being with the exchange, so Miriam has been on to BT. Not yet heard whether its fixed but I don't doubt it will be.
Sis was impressed with the service which she said was a pleasure to deal with. Since iDNet have come in for a fair amount of stick lately, I think it's only fair to record an instance when the service has been good and iDNet's reputation well deserved.
Thanks for that, Tac. :thumb:
Good to hear. :)

BT prompted by Miriam did their thing and full service was restored during this morning. Whatever they did, the router now reports a connection faster than previous, so all (so far) is well.
Service wise you couldn't wish for better. :)
Sounds like they sent a man out on a bike with a roll of tape and a pair of wire strippers, Tac. ;)

Ah, the clumsy engineer probably tripped over your line. It happens a lot, or so I hear. ;D
When I was with another provider I had problems with my pair being accidentally disconected (though I must declare that I did work for the company and left with a bang that got the head of the phone department's ass put in a sling so if I was to be uncharitable I might question just how accidental these accidents were.) The disconnects were of the disconnected pair 113 instead of 133 typo variety so what you're saying is possible.
Since the ADSL and the phone service come from different pieces of equipment in the exchange then go via "jumper" wires to a combiner that makes it into one signal to send down your copper it is possible that either the ADSL card that feeds you or the jumper between it and the combiner became faulty or disconnected. If that happened you would still have phone service. I had the reverse problem recently where I had ADSL but no dial tone.
Cheers,
Paul.
