Great price In, except no voda cover here :bawl: saying that i have given up swapping networks these days, I stick with what I know, change is less easy as I get older and I always wonder why things are so cheap, when Vodafone for example are generally pretty pricy :eyebrow:

I get good coverage with Voda, excellent with T Mobile / Virgin, Just about with Orange and I need to stand at the end of my drive to get 02. ;D
I know the feeling, In - holding the phone above your head and with one foot in a bucket of water. :) It always niggles me that the mobile telcos publish these coverage maps which appear to be virtually identical, but there are still large patches of the country where one network works, one doesn't etc. Logically, if they are not going to improve coverage to fill in the gaps, we should be allowed to 'roam' to whatever network is received - at no extra cost!

Here its O2, then Orange down the road with Voda and no chance in hell with T mobile, living in the sticks for you in the town you get all pretty good :)

I always wondered why we cant do that, it would be great and they would make money on it

Of course, everybody should get full coverage on all networks, we live on a small island, it is just lack of funding in infrastructure by the greedy Telecom's Companies that has prevented it.

I've found that for me Orange is by far the best for me - my mates who are on Voda and T Mobile are constantly moaning that they have no or very little signal at my house.
Same here, Mad, Orange and Voda are good, but O2 is weak. A place we stayed at a while back had only a Voda signal, nothing else stood a chance. It seems crazy to me that we are tied to a single, patchy, network if another network has good coverage. Surely it would be in everyone's interest to co-operate so that customers always had a signal.

the problem there is that we all assume that the telco providers are there to provide a good quality service to their customers, when in fact they are only there to hand huge wads of cash over to their shareholders :(

The only time that it does happen is when " roaming " abroad, which is fine, apart from the new text welcoming you to Spain .. every time you enter a better network coverage. ;D

But how good would it be for that to happen in this country? The technology is there, so they could quite easily do it.
I'm sure it's cost that stops it, Mad. Most (all?) phones already have a preferred network programmed in, and would only roam if that network was not available.

The roaming info is on the sim Rik the networks are on the phone, if you do a manual scan you can see what providers are in your area, so all they need do is provide a sim update to enable roaming in the UK, I use a non tied in phone (sim free) and so does Justina yet hers roamed quite happily so swapping sim from another provider would make it roam on another network instead, they could do it if they wanted I'm sure >:(
I have a vodafone contract phone and a O2 pay as you go but am considering changing my contact to a O2 sim card (£20/month for 600 mins and a choice of bolt ons,ie: unlimited land line calls or unlimited calls to O2 phones. In this area O2 seems to have the best cover. Last week in the cottage near Coleford I had nothing on vodafone but two bars on O2.
How can Asda cut the calls on Vodafone PAYG from 20p/min to 8p/min it seems unfair to loyal customers. :o
Round these parts, i fine voda has the best coverage, which is partly why i'm with them! Funny thing is, i got two messages from voda today. The first said "we have improved the coverage in a area you use your phone" and the second was inviting feedback on where there was poor signals.

I think Vodafone are the most expensive of the bunch, In a friend of mine went with them because he wanted a phone they had first, now he has no signal around here and when he does, a bloody huge bill >:( What I don't understand is how they manage to buy airtime off Vodafone cheaper than Vodafone can supply to their own customers
It only proves to me that they are all greedy barstewards, they could easily reduce prices to end users, but of course they are running their cosy cartel amongst themselves whilst convincing the punters that they are being " competitive ".
They will not let the likes of Asda or Ikea in on their " Contract Phone " market's I bet, far too much profit at stake.

The answer to that Gary is that it just shows how much profit Voda are making out of their own customers, as they will obvioulsy still be making a profit from what Asda are paying them :shake:

Since when have big companies ever been interested in rewarding customer loyalty? All the perks and good deals are used as incentives to draw in new customers, and once you are trapped into a contract, they couldn't give a sh*t about you!
They're not much fussed when you're not tied in by contract either, Simon, relying on inertia to keep customers. :(

Given the BBC's report on food price inflation (croissants up by 47%!) it's a shame we can't all stop eating for a few days to make a point. (The first person to suggest it would be good for me is in big trouble ;D)
