ATA De-registers

My ATA - Grandstream 801v2 - has recently started to de-register itself.  A paperclip reset makes it re-register, but I really need to find a cause.

The obvious could be a faulty ATA, but putting that aside shouldn't the ATA re-register automatically in the event of a power cut or network interuption.

Anyone any ideas as to a likely cause for de-registration?

This is from a couple of years ago but there was a firmware fix to address that kind of issue. Have a read of this...

Thanks for this.  Unfortunately the thing is locked down and I can't access it via a browser in the usual manner: 192.168.xx.xx etc, possibly because it's configured to use a non-standard port.

That means I can't obtain the firmware version unless I ring iDNet and I'm not sure they could tell me since UBOSS appears to be a black box.  I assume it's the latest version since it's only been installed recently. 

Surely if the power or the network goes down and it drops the registration, it should automatically re-connect and register when the network comes back up.  A network scan shows that I can ping the ATA, but that only means it's alive but  not necesssarily registered with the server.

It's probably worth asking IDNet though. I find it is, anyway, if I have an issue that isn't easily solved.

I did email them and got a reply along the lines of it could be a number of things.....

Well yes it could including a dud device, but since it's new that's probably unlikely.  I was really looking for the most common causes so that I have some idea of where to look for the source of the problem. 

Since iDNet were pretty non-commital I thought I would ask here in case anyone else had experienced problems.

Just checked and it's gone offline again...

Must admit I was tempted to go elsewhere, but since the phone was already with iDNet it seemed simpler to go with UBOSS for the move to SOGEA.  It is only a one month contract though so if this problem doesn't get sorted soon, I'll go elsewhere, probably to Voipfone who appear to be well regarded.

Out of interest, who did you go with for VOIP?
