Have been without landline since 6 pm yesterday. E-mailed mobile numbers asking their 24/7 support to look into it, and received nothing! I have tried another phone into the master socket and that does not work so it's not this end. Had I stayed with BT I could have checked the fault online. Any thoughts as to what this could be?
If it's a BT line fault, from what I recall, they won't look at it until Monday anyway, unless you have Enhanced Care. I expect the out of hours team have logged it, but I'd ring IDNet direct on Monday, Jill. Has there been any building or road works going on near you?
Thanks. No not got enhanced care, and haven't a clue about any building/road works near us. However :facepalm: the line to the house is like a bird nest, BT did not want to know as there was no fault, but there is now! Will see what Monday brings ::)

yep if you pay the landline bill to IDNet, it has to be reported to them. The only disadvantage; a few years ago when I still paid the bill to BT, and without enhanced care OR turned up on Sunday morning for a fault I reported on Saturday! It depends area to area though, I guess they wanted some overtime here!
Now they seem, at least here, to have some exchange monitoring that detects most local loop faults before we even report them. But it's the problem with every large organisation, every exchange team isn't the same - practices and resources differ. I surmise we got the monitoring kit here because a few years ago lines were so bad, with it seemed like everyone getting faults. Bit by bit the local loop has got more reliable as they patched it, bit by bit. It'll never be briliant because it's a patchwork repair (and it looks like they impose a local limit on broadband speeds due to the amount of noise/crosstalk), but it's serviceable even, now, reliable (touch wood). Random bad lines must be a nightmare to deal with administratively and, sometimes, technically.

Yes I did, you have not read what I posted lol.
Things on a go slow at the moment. We were phoned Sunday! by IDNet who ran a check and told us that it was external. I knew this anyway looking at the bird nest of cable outside without a cover on! it's no wonder everything ran slowwww when it rained ::) It was fixed today, ran a new cable through the wall and even put an up to date face plate in place of the old one. Very lucky as he said he would sign off outside only :thumb: Not sure this will post ::)

Did they change the pair in the cab? If they did that can change your speeds greatly, I went from 63Mbps to 54Mbps and I wont get that speed back. :( Ask IDNet to reset your line after ten days if nothing improves. Sadly they cant do that on FTTC.
No. Yes will be in touch with them, see if they will give it a kick! It's very up and down but was told that would be for 7 days. Horrid waiting for pages to load, unable to watch short videos.

If it's a full moon I find it sometimes helps to dance anticlockwise around the back garden but you might want to miss out that step ;D

Have tried another ping test 45 and passed as very good B* ;D I don't need to check really as I can feel the difference! I don't play games and doubt I could.
