Well, I feel a bit foolish. Mentioned to O2 when I left last week that I hope they do ok if BT buys them... there were rumours, guess the newspapers got the wrong telco being eyeballed up.

EE have more spectrum, a larger customer base at the moment and a larger 4G footprint so means BT won't have to stump up so much cash for network build out.

Will be interesting to see how many customers remain once the deal is complete.

I wonder why they (BT) chose EE instead of buying O2 back?

Bigger customer base?

That wouldn't have been my immediate assumption.  I'd have thought EE and O2 were similar on that front.

EE has 33.8% of market service revenue. Vodafone 26.5%. O2 26.2%. Hutchison (3) 10.2%. If Hutchison take O2 from Telefonica that would suggest a combined share of 36.4%.

And if Vodafone go with Virgin?

And if Vodafone go with Virgin?

Virgin is a virtual network operating over EE network (was 1-2-1). Tesco operate over O2.

EE have a dreadful name for customer relations according to the national press so I cannot imagine what a link up with the bunch of cowboys known as BT might produce.   :eek4:  I think I'll stick with my £25 Tesco over O2 phone which seems to get a signal where others fail.  The building in which I live is notorious for blocking mobile phone signals yet I can use mine everywhere!

Am thinking the same about Three taking over O2.

Will stick with giffgaff to see what happens but my only other choice will be Vodafone.
