Title: Really really slow ADSL speed ?
Post by: exxos on Mar 11, 2014, 11:26:32
(http://www.speedtest.net/result/3362796854.png)

I think my DSL filter was iffy, so changed it, things seem stable now, but my speed has gone really low.

I never get much past 4/5mb anyway, but its not even 1mb now :(

Anyone any ideas ?

DSL Link Status    up
DSL Uptime    0 days 0 hours 33 minutes 51 seconds
DSL modulation    ITU G.992.3(ADSL2)
Annex mode    ANNEX_A
SNR Down    12.4 dB
SNR Up    5.9 dB

Line Attenuation Up    28.7 dB

Do you know what your downstream was previously as looking at it now it's looking like a very long line and indeed you'd be better off profiled as adslmax. If it's suddenly increased by a reasonable amount that to me suggests a potential fault somewhere between router and the exchange.

DSL Link Status    up
DSL Uptime    0 days 6 hours 29 minutes 36 seconds
DSL modulation    ITU G.992.5(ADSL2PLUS)
Annex mode    ANNEX_A
SNR Down    12.5 dB
SNR Up    5.9 dB
Line Attenuation Down    57.0 dB

POWER Down    0.0 dbm
POWER Up    11.3 dbm

Thats back to "normal" speeds. Must have been a fault somewhere along the line.. I never get fantastic speeds here, but better than dial-up  ;)

It would be good if it stayed like that and the downstream margin reduced to give you a bit more throughput.

The line is still going on/off. I have noticed the router is causing wireless interference on the wireless phone, but aside from that, even when the phone is plugged into the wall direct, the line is still popping and clicking like mad.  Going to change the socket later, but its looking like a BT visit is unavoidable now :(
