Why is it I keep being taking to review sites when I click on certain words. I even get it on here.?
That might well happen if you visit sites that run Skimlinks or other similar affiliate link software. However we run nothing at all of that nature here so it sounds like it might be something local to you, possibly a virus.
It sounds like you've inherited a browser add on, Lona. I had one called WizeShoppy which did exactly what you've described, and it was bundled in with an update to an add on I'd been using for years without any issues. If you check your browser add ons, it may be listed, in which case you should be able to remove it. If it's not listed, it may have been bundled in with an update to one of your other add ons, so it will be a question of going through them one by one to find the culprit.
I would check for malware and browser add ons as Simon says, also make sure your DNS has not been altered in your router.
Found a programme called yontoo so uninstalled it and will wait and see if that's sorted all this being carried away.
That will be the culprit. It's an adware Trojan.

I did manage to delete yontoo and all the popups have stopped but still when I open internet explorer a viewer comes on behind it just for a second then goes. I installed internet explorer 9 to see if it got rid of this happening but it's just the same.
It doesn't happen with firefox.
I can only guess that something else may have infiltrated Internet Explorer, Lona. Is there a way to disable any add ons in IE?
I've disabled adobe to see if that helps but makes no difference. It looks like an adobe flash player that's coming up but it goes so quickly I can't read what viewer it is.
If I uninstalled internet explorer will I be able to re-install it if I want.?
Is google chrome any good.?
Some would say it is.
Is there a pop-up blocker in IE now? I just wondered if it might be worth disabling it, to see if the pop-up, or rather, pop-under, would then stay there long enough for you to see what it is.
Hi Lona, A lot of people use Google Chrome but I must admit I don't like it. I tend to use either IE10 as my main browser and Firefox when I fancy a change.
I'm not sure if you can actually uninstall Internet Explorer now...?

Tried disabling pop-up blocker but just the same.

I guess I'll just keep using Firefox as I really can't understand why internet explorer has this pop-up appearing. It's either a flash window or could be a quicktime window. It flashes off so fast I can't make out which one it is.
To me it wouldn't matter whether I could uninstall it or not, just choose whether to use it or not!

I agree Steve but I like to solve things that happen even if I never use ie9, it's good to understand what's up.

True, but eventually I gave up trying and used something else completely different. ;)
You may not of fully removed everything that Yontoo installs http://malwaretips.com/blogs/yontoo-pagerage-virus/
Yes, if there's something still lurking, it would be best to try to fully remove it, even if you don't intend to use IE again. I wonder if HijackThis (http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/trend_micro_hijackthis.html) might reveal anything?
Lona, Google Chrome is the best and I've been using it for years. Trust me, you won't look back. You know how fussy I am with browsers! :)

Big thanks Glenn. Did the reset which I had done before but didn't tick personal settings. Problem gone. :thumb:
Glad it sorted it.
 :pipes: :scot: Well done Lona!
Good news! :thumb:
There's a clever girl then ;) Well at least cleverer than the men on here. >:D
