what modem cables do you use, decent quality ones instead of the standard flat ones that come with routers.
do they make any difference

I use Shielded ones, Baz. I have lots of wiring around, the flat stuff is not good and is liable to pick up interference. Then a Cat 6 from the router to my iMac.
shielded ones, now they sound good. where you get them from Gary.
Ive just been noticed that the one I have has a slight bend at one end but not enough to break the inner wires themselves, just bent at the boot part.it is a high performance one, well so it says on the cable itself, where I got it from I cant remember :) so at the minute i'm back on a flat one :(
only need about 2mtrs max length

Price seems ok to me, Baz. Mines a Belkin, just looked. I have used Kenable before for 4 way gang sockets with kettle connectors for my Smart UPS, fast service with no issues. :thumb:
sounds good thanks will look into them
I use an ADSL Nation Pro+ shielded cable twisted pair cable http://www.adslnation.com/phpapps/catalog/index.php?cPath=21&osCsid=rhj2jbl1ntaev1i9r8ug0i4av2 which seems to work rather well

Their cables are good, but after a while a cable is a cable, as long as its not flat and its shielded its good enough I think.
