Hi,
Just had my FTTC connection enabled today. I had bought a Draytek Vigor2750 VDSL2 router before hand since I've used an older draytek adsl router for a few years and its been great.
Unfortunately, I can't seem to authenticate properly with it. ??? The router logs give something odd -
Jan 1 00:09:51 Vigor2750 daemon.warn pppd[11342]: Timeout waiting for PADO packets
Jan 1 00:09:51 Vigor2750 daemon.err pppd[11342]: Unable to complete PPPoE Discovery
I've double checked the account settings and they are ok. Thankfully I asked the installation engineer if he could leave the BT modem anyway just in case. I'm using that now and have a windows 7 PPPoE connection setup (thanks to the guide on here) which is working fine.
The draytek router syncs up with no problems (40 down, 10 up - ;D ) - it's just the PPPoE authentication bit it seems to be having issues with.
Does anybody have any ideas why the above errors are being logged - and anybody using the same router and are connected ok?
Have you followed this guide when setting up the router?

Setup details here - http://www.broadbandbuyer.co.uk/Shop/PageTextDetail.asp?SetID=4&TextID=1004
If that doesn't work then you might have to wait for a fellow 2750 user to come along.
There's a thread on the PlusNet forums http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,98454.0.html
Two people on there with similar problems , one seemed to work when left for 5 mins, the other never reported it working.

Yes, after some searching I found that and tried it - made no difference. :( It's syncing up fine, but looks to be having an issue with some underlying PPPoE problem rather than not authenticating from what I can tell. It's already on the latest firmware too.
I left it for a good ten mins or so but it didn't recover. May try again tonight.
Well would you believe it. Just tried again and it's all worked fine. :o
Another quick speed test via speedtest.net, and I'm getting 33Mb download speeds, whereas when connected to the bt modem it was 28Mb - so a bit of a difference already. No idea what was up before then (perhaps it's the same Friday 13th thing that's caused my central heating to back in today, and doorbell wasn't working when engineer tried to use it :-\ - good job he called ahead!).
Will have to keep an eye on things over the next few days to see how it all behaves.
:fingers:
Comms is a black art. ;)
BTW the Draytek has exactly the same chipset as the OpenReach/Huawei HG612 -BCM6368 so in theory it should be compatible but probably won't achieve a better connection.
