I can't get to any websites or any other services.
I have powered down my router for about an hour and i still can't do anything.
My router shows its in sync with the exchange but nothing else.
I'm in Glasgow so i don't think the guildford brae outage would be affecting me.
I sent an email to support@idnet.com at around 6pm but i have had no reply.
any help would be much appreciated
I have the exact same thing and I live in glasgow too!
Call 0800 701 2000 and tell them you've no connection, they should call back
There was a BT outage in Glasgow early yesterday am which was said to have cleared the same day.
http://usertools.plus.net/exchanges/mso.php?id=18770
Yeah I see the outage from yesterday that was affecting my area too (014189), didn't seem to have any problems.
Gave them a call and a message to ring back, let's see

Sorry I can't help, guys, but if you've all logged calls, hopefully someone will call you back.

Is this a 24hr number?
Still down this morning :(
I only briefly tested mine this morning and i still had no internet access, however i did get email aswell with the following.
QuoteIt would appear BT had a major service outage in the
Glasgow area affecting customers with an 01417 and 01418 area code. This
outage has now been resolved. Please retest your connection and do let
us know if you continue to have difficulty.
If you still notice speed problems please could you complete a test at
www.speedtester.bt.com and send the results through to us so we can take
a good look at the problem for you.
Kind regards,
sof2er, if you are going to phone again this morning could you also mention that a few folk north of the border are reporting the same problem on this forum. thanks.
i would do it myself but i'm at work.
I spoke to support. There have been 6 of us north of the border so far that have reported this problem. I was told that it has now been reported to BT and in addition to that each case has been reported as individual cases too. A thread is going to be started for us to keep an eye on over on the Service Announcements page.
Thanks :fingers:

thanks for the update
I can't find the link to the service announcement. :(
I'm doing this from my mobile which isn't getting 3G where I am just now so surfing is excruciatingly slow. If someone could post a link to it that would be dandy. :)
Here (http://www.idnet.net/support/status.jsp) it is, Rich. :)
thanks ray, didn't think to look on there. doh
Brilliant thanks. :thumb:
Still no change here.
I hope they can get it sorted today, I couldn't stand another night without internets. :(

Wed 07/07/2010 at 10am Ongoing Problem in the Scotland and Northern Ireland areas
Estimated time to resolve: 2hrs
We are aware of a temporary problem in the Scotland and Northen Ireland areas that may be causing some users difficulties accessing the Internet. Our engineers are working to resolve this problem and we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
Let's hope they fix it quick :/ 24 hours with no access almost
What time do these engineers knock off?
I keep checking to see if I've got internets. I'm finding my laptop's constant rejection to my advances disheartening. :bawl:
They probably be waiting on a part being delivered, next day delivery before 1pm
after all we are just 2nd class citizens this side of the border
http://btbusiness.custhelp.com/app/service_status_consumer
it says resolved, but I can't access any websites still.
It doesn't sound like it. :(
If liam/ou7shined get it working say so! :)
I had a brief email exchange with IDNet support this morning, and Miriam said that the Scotland problem had returned. This was at 10:55am, and as we've had no further updates, we can only assume that the BT problem still isn't resolved. :(
If BT think it's fixed, is it worth us contacting IDNet again?
Maybe they need to throw one of those big Frankenstein switches to bring us jocks back on line.
well i'm posting from my home connection but its still very unstable. still dropping packets but obviously better than last night.
power cycle your routers

If it's not fixed by the morning, it might be worth contacting IDNet for an update.
Its gone again, managed to get to the site and post then just as i returned to the thread it went completely to pot.
:argh:
Just tried again on my connection after having the modem/router pwoered down for 1 hour, no luck. Sites refuse to open or load very slow and take about 3 hours.
Not sure why the BT site went from ongoing to resolved an hour ago if nothing is resolved :(
BT must still be playing with the equipment because my router wont sync with the exchange now. Fingers crossed tomorrow its back up
Let's hope :), my modem won't synch either now with the exchange.
Mine syncs fine. I just can't use the internet as everything times out. Strangely enough my Gmail notifier still manages to pull in the occasional update so my line isn't completely dead, just really really really slow.
Is this just affecting Scottish internet users? I'm in Lincolnshire and my internet's started playing up in the past hour, but my internet is useless at the best of times anyway so it could be just me.
Quite sure it's only scottish connections yeah (but not many, just a few of us are affected it seems :/)
I still can't access anything this morning....
Me neither. I've contacted support (I'm not the first today) who confess they are at the mercy of BT, who in turn don't know what the exact problem is. The common factor seems to be that everyone with the problem is on "b-res red 5". I have no idea what that means but I presume we are all on the same line. An official update should be forthcoming soon.
Please read for those of you still have problems

Bubba need internets :bawl:
Really hoping this gets resolved soon, trying out my connection 20 times a day just to find out it doesn't work.. :(
Well my internet is still displaying the lifesigns of a dodo. That's 3 nights on the trot without access now. I'm beginning to wonder if paying IDNet for a "priority" service is actually worth it. Before I phone support again has anyone had any news at all? How many of us are affected by this?
I had a look on thinkBB only to find the only scrap of info on the subject was one of my own posts from this thread quoted slightly out of contex. ::)
Rich, further update here: -
http://www.idnetters.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=21148.msg507342#msg507342
So the reason for the pants service is they're having problems with their bras. Keep us posted with more underwear related updates. ;D
Could you post any news in this thread too please Ray. I'm keeping this page active on my mobile so I can stay up to date without having to keep navigating all over the place on my slow connection.
I think they need stronger elastic! ;D
OK will do:thumb:

Erm that was me that posted the info on Think Broadband but i don't know how it was out of context?!
Anyway, its not IDNet with the issue its BT, all IDNet can do is keep pressuring BT.
You'll be hard pushed to find better support than IDNet.
Here are some links to other ISP Status pages on this issue as well:
http://status.zensupport.co.uk/index.php?serviceid=5&incidentid=1874&simple=1
http://81.187.105.49/?incident=328
Let's hope they're all badgering BT to get it fixed.
Looks like they have shifted something i am getting internet access its 8mb instead of 17mb but at lease its working.
Looks like my IP changed ...I'm guessing the issue is still ongoing as my speed did drop from about 39 Mbit to 17, but it's working so not complaining! hope the speeds resolve to maximum as well in a few days
Mine's back up too but only at 4457 Kbps and my pings are double what they were the last time I checked. Still at least I've go something. :D
I'm gonna power down my router for a bit to see if anything improves.

I don't get notifications to my phone. Idnetters notifications always go to my spam folder (I don't know why) and I don't know how to get to my spam folder from my phone.
Don't know which your using but if you can set up as IMAP you should be able to see all folders. Well I can on the IPhone so should be possible on any other phone as we are often reminded of it's limitations on here
I would have thought it was just a matter of adding IDNetters to the white list, but I don't know what your email set up is.
i am back to 164 Kbps ah the never ending joy 2 weeks of unusable internet
I'm experiencing what I can only describe as "throttling". I am synced at 6 megs but pages are taking a few seconds to load - which I guess is an improvement over the last few days but an indication that the fault is still present.

It's Gmail and no matter how many times I tell it that it is not spam certian IDNetter threads end up in the spam folder. It's normally not much of a problem, unless I have no internet access via my PC.
my speeds are back to normal, everything seems fine.. let's hope it stays that way!
Good news, :thumb: :fingers:
BT think they may have resolved the issue, time will tell :fingers:
still on sub dialup speeds here :(
Have many people got a working connection again ?
or is it still erratic ?
Just looking to see the bigger picture and hope its not just my connection has been left behind.
Cheers
Can you manage a BT speedtest and post results
I have been having problems since the 28th June just after the last BT disconnect since then my speed has been atrocious, IDnet support have been fine but BT have claimed they saw no problem , then saw it, fixed it etc etc so it has ping ponged back and forth with BT for the last two weeks until the latest big BT problem.
I normally sinc at 21 mb and download at 17mb on a rock solid connection.
Yesterday for the first time i was getting 8mb then back to sub dial up.
This is my average speed over the last two weeks.
Download speed achieved during the test was - 144 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 1000-7150 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :9724 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 992 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 8000 Kbps
The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 16.67:22.92:60.42 (SBE:NBE:PBE)
These figures represent the ratio while sententiously passing Sub BE, Normal BE and Priority BE marked traffic.
Doesn't look like it's sorted yet,can you pass those on to support.I had a look over at Zen they claim that BT think they've resolved the Glasgow issue but there should be another update this evening
I have passed a few speed reports on but BT don't appear to be doing anything,
I last spoke to IDnet Support on friday and bt had said to them there is a problem in Glasgow and N Ireland and i could not get any more information than that.
Like i said in my previous post what every they were working on yesterday my speed went to up 8mb on a capped 8mb line but today its awful again.
I would just like some information as its been 2 weeks now since the start of this and i cant see any thing being resolved as yet.
My router is synced at just under 6 megs (pretty normal) but .....
lol i know that But...... feeling mate :-)
today my speed is 2860 Kbps
usable but not acceptable :-)
hopefully they are still working on it , or maybe someone has stopped pulling out random plugs.
Download speed achieved during the test was - 2860 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 1000-8000 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Assured Rate IP profile on your line is - 8000 Kbps
-----edit ----
looks like the plug kicker is back
