speaker problem
« on: Oct 19, 2016, 17:22:30 »
I have a problem with my iPhone5S. I can't hear the caller unless I switch on the (loud) speaker and use it as a hands free. HELP or I will resume my apple hating again.

Have you tried switching it off and on again?  If that doesn't help, then the obvious would be to check that the call volume is up when on a call (not with speaker), but if not that, then it maybe a hardware issue.  :(

Lightly squeeze the phone to the right of the earpiece socket it may restore the volume temporarily. It's likely a hardware issue, there's probably a few Note 7s going cheap.

I read lots of advice on the net including doing a reset or pressing close to the speaker, camera or any were else you can find and even plug and unplug a headphone in the socket. Sadly non worked and then I read a report about someone with the same problem who blew into the earpiece and another who turned his hairdryer onto cold and pointed at the earpiece. So I tried blowing on it rather hard and guess what?

IT NOW WORKS FINE.  ;D
